"The Greatest Truth"

John 8:32

Man’s greatest need is to be loved. Titanic was seen by so many because Jack gives his life so that Rose may live. Then there’s a reunion of lovers at the end. Rose says of Jack, "He saved me in every way a person can be saved."

That’s the gospel.

Jesus came to capture our hearts. He came to save us in every way a person can be saved. He comes to capture our heart not in chains but with freedom.

The greatest need that any human being has today is to know they are loved unconditionally. I want you to know that everything you are or ever hope to be is because Jesus loves you.

The old saying is "If its too good to be true, then it most likely is." Well, may be humanly that is true but not spiritually. Instead of letting God determine our human relationships, we impose our human relationships on God.

Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV) The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:

"Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;

Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.

Yet it is so hard to receive the unconditional love of God because we have never known it from a human perspective.

The knowledge of His love does bring us freedom.

1. His love frees us from the need to negotiate with God.

We feel we have to negotiate with God because we don’t see ourselves as loved by God unconditionally. You must bring something to the table to negotiate instead of receiving freely.

Romans 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

2. His love frees us from the need to perform for God.

Romans 5: 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,

Hebrews 6: 1 reminds us that we have "repented of dead works." Dead works are works that don’t produce anything. These are the works that are performed out of trying to earn God’s love instead of serving out of His love.

3. His love frees us from the demand to repay God.

Romans 4: 4-5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

When a person is saved, one of two statements is stamped on your payment:

"Paid In Full" or "Installment Plan." Jesus stamps "Paid in Full" because our debt is totally paid for, but sometime we stamp "Installment Plan" because we want to pay him back for what He’s done.

4. His love frees us from guilt and condemnation.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,

John 3: 17-18 reminds us at Jesus did not come to condemn the world.

There is a difference between condemnation and conviction.

Condemnation comes from Satan.

Conviction comes from God.

Condemnation seeks to destroy you.

Conviction comes to edify you.

Condemnation destroys self-respect.

Conviction saves self-respect.

Condemnation eats away at your human spirit.

Conviction seeks to build trust in your spirit.

Condemnation fills you with fear.

Conviction leads to repentance and gladness.

Condemnation focuses on who you are.

Conviction focuses on your behavior or action.

5. His love frees us from fear

I John 4:18 – fear there is in relation to the judgment and means torment. We are to have a fear of God, but not a torment of the judgment. Instead, we can have boldness and confidence.

Romans 8: 15 promises us there is no fear
