"The Hope That Renews"

Hosea 2: 14-15

From the life of Hosea, we see that "the door of suffering will become a door of hope." God spoke to me that it is hope that renews us in the midst of pain.

I. This hope is born in pain.

You don’t need hope if everything is going well. But with Hosea, his wife had left and he was experiencing great pain. In that scene, hope was born.

II. This hope is sustained through grief.

Grief is a normal process that every human goes through with the loss of something significant: a death of a family member, friend, loss of a job, loss of a relationship, loss of a job, etc.

To grief is not non-Christian, but totally human. But as one goes through the stages of grief, hope sustains them.

III. This hope endures with longsuffering.

Hope gets us through the pain.

Romans 5: 3-4 is a passage God has given me this year.

"And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope."

When we survive tribulations, we become victors and victims. And getting through these tribulations produce a character – a fortitude – that gives us strength and assurance that we can make it through other things which is our hope.

IV. This hope blossoms in obedience.

Romans 4:17-21 – Abraham had hope because he heard the voice of God and was obedient to it. When God speaks, it will happen thus we can have hope of its occurring.
